I don't do sports and there was no injury to the area. It comes and goes but it's causing me more pain now and the pain is also in my legs. Seems like some of you think that I should not be getting a CT scan. What is the worst possible problem that could be causing my pain? I just want to be prepared. I don't do any lifting or heavy exercise, so the slipped disc thing seems weird... Does it just happen?

Mattress(very Firm causes) Back pain? What should I do? I got a new mattress to help with my upper back pain and it was pretty good for 1.5 weeks, then in the last few days my upper back pain has continually gotten worse. Back Pain Causes...? How to relieve the pain? For about a week now, I've been having back pain. When I sit still, I can't feel it at all, but when I turn or bend over in a certain way (or when I take a deep breath) it hurts. It's on the right side of my back, underneath my shoulder blade but above where the ribs start in the back. I originally thought it was from sleeping in an uncomfortable position, but I've tried sleeping several different ways and it hasn't helped. It's not a horrible pain, just more of a constant ache. I feel like it's something to do with my muscles but don't know how to tell. It's becoming very frustrating and worrisome. Lastly, I'm only 21 so it isn't from age or anything. I don't have any insurance at the moment and won't have it until January 1st. Any ideas of what caused it? And more importantly, any ideas of how to relieve it? Thank you!

mid-upper back pain - causes? i've seen 3 orthopedists now and they all say different stuff for the cause of my back pain. i suffer from 24 hour daily mid-upper back pain (21 years old). never been in an accident or suffered an injury. no pulled muscles. my flexibility is okay. the orthopedist today said that she thinks its due to "improper posture." Um, my posture is good. i stand upright and never slump, always holding my stomach in. i may lack proper posture while sitting though, as I tend to slump forward sometimes. BUT, the thing is, I the pain worsens at night while laying flat down - I can't even sleep flat down without waking up anymore. i'm extremely tight in the morning. my back always cracks but still feels like it needs to be cracked after it cracks. i lift weights very lightly and use the machines instead of free weights. any ideas of what is causing my back pain?

awful back pain - causes? I have had a bad back for about a year now after playing sport and my doctor just said to rest it. Now I have been lifting boxes at work. I got home and the pain came back although not much at around 1:30pm and stayed constant until about 10pm when it got a little worse Then at 11:30 the pain became hardly bearable and if I walked I got terrible pain on the right hand side half way down which caused my body to tense up and sometimes to jolt.
