How do I treat upper back pain?
I am having upper back pain that whenever I strain it either by working out or by throwing hard (I'm a baseball player), it gets extremely tight and it becomes hard to breathe for some reason. Are these back spasms? And how should I treat the pain? My back feels tight all the time but whenever I twist too hard is when I can't breathe and it gets extremely tight.

- when my back hurts its usually because i'm using a new bra. and i'm not used of it. but since youre a baseball player im guesiing youre a guy so that didn't help
- do yoga.
- I think you have strained your back from over-exerting yourself. You may need to rest from all physical sports/exercises until it improves. In the mean time hot pads on the area may assist. If the pain persists longer than 48 hours or so see your GP.
- The most common cause for upper back pain originates from muscular irritation, but the fact that it's hard for you to breathe may indicate a pinched nerve. The two most common reasons for a pinched nerve are a herniated disc and muscle imbalances. There are a few methods you can try to eliminate the pain, but unless you know for sure the reason for your pain, some of this may or may not work. -join manipulation, usually performed by chiropractors -deep massage or massage therapy -acupuncture -analgesics : non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs Try a massage with Tiger Balm. This helps a lot in cases like yours.
