What causes back Pain? What is the best way to sleep to eliminate back pain?

- My back pain is caused by my sleeping on my stomach. It strains my neck, especially. I try to sleep on my back or side, and it is much better.
- alot of things can cause back pain. its probably better to ask your doctor about this one.
- My doctor told me that the number one cause of back pain was weak back muscles. He gave me some exercises to do to strengthen them and it worked! I know not having the right matress can cause it too. You might need a softer or harder bed. You could try a sleep number bed. Just a thought.
- pillow under your legs if you sleep on your back. pillow inbetween your legs if you sleep on your side.
- Various causes. Sleep with a small pillow. On your back--pillow under your knees. On your side--pillow between your knees. And if you just have to sleep on your belly--put a small pillow right below your ribcage--where it feels comfortable. This puts the natural curvature back in your spine. But the rule is: laying around too much makes back pain worse. Get up & get moving--sit with your shoulders back & natural curvature in your spine. That's why physical therapists give their patients that little half-circle pillow to lean back against. I hope this helps!!
