Scoliosis or heavy boobs causing back pain?
I am 17 and I have the worst back pain everyday, usually if I stand or sit in the same position for a long time. I have severe scoliosis and had a spinal fusion 7 years ago. I also am a 34DD/DDD. I am 5'4" and wear a size 6 pants. Is my back pain caused from my breast or scoliosis? Do you think a breast reduction would help the pain?

- Several women do get breast reduction surgery to help with back pain, so that could be something to consider.
- The pain is probably from both but I think your breasts are probably the biggest factor. Yes, a breast reduction would do wonders for your back pain. I suggest you talk to a physician that does breast reductions to get his take on this but I'm sure you'll feel tons better without your back having to support all that extra weight. And think how much easier it would be to shop for cute clothes!
- I'm the same as you, short, sculiosis, and large breasted; What I do, because I am in poor, and cannot afford breast reduction is push ups, which increase the weight my back can handle, and make my arms stronger. The best thing to do is breast reduction, and if that is not possible, do push ups every day. I haven't had any back pains for weeks because I started doing push ups. I hope this helps you. :)
- I had a spinal fusion over 20 years ago, and do not have large breasts and I haven't experienced any back pain from my surgery. It's most likely caused by your breast size. I'm sorry. :(
- I'll resist the temptation to make the typical male comments after hearing your uh, generous measurements. My friend had the same problem and had a reduction. It helped a lot. By age 21 it had become so severe problem that it was the only choice. This will get worse, not better unless you see a doctor and do something about it. good luck.
- no i dont think breast reduction would help... i suggest going to a chiropractor. i had back pain too and i went to a chiropractor and they went away after a few adjustments. plus scoliosis wouldn't cause back pain... just bad posture
- It is probubly a combination of both. Try chest exercizes like push ups and bench presses. They will strengthen your pectoral muscles and shrink your boobs. FYI most doctors will not do breast reductions on minors.
- Breast reduction is definitely an option. It is worth a shot, however, to try a little strength training first. You can start with push ups and crunches (abs are also important for carrying weight). It may not fix you up 100%, so don't expect that. But if it feels like it is helping, you could see about getting a personal trainer for about a month or so to help you learn how to safely do a little weight training. Just try to stick to free weights where possible (they work out a lot of supporting muscles machines don't). If you do go that route, let your doctor know, and let the trainer know you have scoliosis. They may rule out and/or recommend certain exercises for you.
- A breast reduction helped my pain.
