Is there anyway to avoid lower back pain when playing roller hockey?
Whenever I play hockey I get severe lower back pain. I try to stretch out as much a possible, however it get to the point where I can no longer skate. I'm wondering if this is because I haven't played roller hockey in 5 years. Perhaps my muscles are adjusting and/or strengthening or perhaps my posture is bad when skating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

- Sounds like you just low strength in your lower back muscles. Do squats and leg presses in the gym. Core workouts will definitely help too.
- Totally has happened to me when I have not skated in awhile. I think it goes away after your muscles build up.
- wear a support belt. You know, the one you wear under your close when carrying heavy things to prevent your back from hurting.
- Yes it is because you have not played in a while. When I was forced to sit out a few months I had the same issues when restarting ice. It was really bad on the face offs. But it does go away. It just takes time . Stretching does help , But it is a matter of your muscles getting used to skating and game style again . Some core exercises can help. But it will go away as soon as your body gets used to playing again .
- posture might be bad try going to the gym and working out your lower back, that will help for usre. also make sure u are doing the right stretches for your lower back..... google lower back stretches, make sure u do the stretch where u are on your stomach on the floor and pushing up with your hands
