Back Pain

Medication for pain in upper right side of the back ?

I have pain in my upper right side of the back (Shoulder). I am not able to turn my neck properly. While taking deep breath, I feel the pain. Can anybody tell me the medication or exercise to get out from this pain ?

  1. I would make sure that I wasn't having a gall bladder attack. Check out right shoulder pain in relation to gall bladder and see if it could be you. As far as the pain goes, the cause would help to indicate what you should do to ease the pain. I would try a heating pad and high doses of Ibuprofen. Good Luck!
  2. I don't want to alarm you but you may have had or be having a mild heart attack. go to this site: www.nhlbi.nih.gov/actintime/ read the warning signs and see if they are even close to what you are experiencing. You don't have to be clutching your chest to experience one. If this appeared out of nowhere go to a doctor or emergency clinic asap
  3. Is it a cramping, tight pain? If so, I know exactly the pain you're talking about. Been there done that. Apply heat by taking a hot shower and letting the water course over the painful area. don't burn yourself but gradually turn down the cold and get the water as hot as you can tolerate and just let the heat soak into shoulder and neck. By all means check out the link for heart attack but if you find this is just a back/shoulder pain it would be a great idea to see a chiropractor. I'm the one who tends to discourage chiropractic visits at the drop of a hat but this is the type of thing that they can really help. I mean, you could walk out of the office painfree, that's how much they can help in this case. If you don't want to bother with that apply heat alternated with ice for two days and take some Motrin or Advil (ibuprophen, an anti-inflammatory). If in two days there is no progress you really should see either a doctor or chiropractor. Good luck, I know this is painful.
