What could be the cause of my upper and middle back pain/soreness?
For years I have had this soreness/stinging in my upper back. It is on both sides below my shoulder blades and on my spine. It feels like burning, stinging pain. It does get worse the more I do certain tasks like gardening or repitive motions. I have been to the doctor and he puts me on anti imflammatory meds. They help for a while but it always comes back. Any ideas?

- Pinched muscles in your back. Nothing else can be doing it so pinched muscles. Here is how to release the muscles in your back: Back: Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
- Cathi, This has to do with pinched nerves and can be relieved with some exercises and new habits. Here's what to do: # Basic Cobra Pose (based on Cobra Yoga Pose): Lay face down on a mat. Arms by your sides palms down. Keep your face down with your chin near your chest and lift your upper body up with your back muscles. # Basic Fish Pose (based on Fish Yoga Pose): Lay flat on your back on a mat. Arch your back and push up with your elbows keeping your chin near your chest so your head does not tilt. # Rotate/roll your shoulders forward and up and around and let them settle low and as far back as they'll stay, and get used to them staying back there. # Sit with your head further back (NOT tilted back but pulled back like a double chin). This stuff should get rid of that back pain/soreness quickly and the more you do them, the less likely the problem is to ever return. Give this stuff a try. I know a resource with more tips and information about these tips and will include the link below so you can dig deeper into a solution. Good luck getting your back to feel fantastic, John
