I get extreme upper back pain that lasts up to 2 days each month, then disappears. How is this?
I don't do ANY strenuous activity to cause this back pain, and it normally happens when I try to sleep. It hurts so bad that I can't sleep, stand, or move without it hurting even worse. I usually try to take a hot bath, or shower, then lie back down with a couple of advil in my system. It normally disappears in about two days. What gets me is that it comes back once a month. Can anyone help me?

- muscle strain?
- You have tight muscles in your upper back that for some reason are getting pinched at those times to give the really bad pains you are experiencing. To get rid of this problem and to keep it from happening again you have to free up your back muscles and here's how to do that: Back: (do from a sitting position) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
- I would see a chiropractor. All chiropractic adjustments and chiropractic treatments are extremely safe and effective. You can also just schedule a consultation to see if your chiropractor can help. I put a link to my favorite pillow, which always seems to help me alot with any neck or upper back thing.
- it dos not have to be from lifting you can get back pain from sleeping on a mattress that dos not support your back, and from bending the wrong way or even if you slip and you catch yourself but if you get these back pain i would suggest you do the exercise that #1 said
