What exactly causes lower back pain during opiate withdrawals?
What exactly is it that causes lower back pain during withdrawals? Or rather, makes it a symptom of withdrawals. I want to know what organ or what it is exactly causing this. To Michelle: I thought that too, but my fiancee has had the same exact pain with withdrawals too, and several others who I've talked to. It's lower back pain. No period/cramps or even kidney pain, I know what all that feels like. This is just a deep lower back pain and he describes it the same.

- it's not an organ causing the pain. when you take opiates for an extended period of time, your body's natural pain killers stop working as hard because the synthetic pain killers (opiates) are doing their job for them. when you stop taking opiates, you will feel pain that your body would usually be able to prevent you from feeling, because it is used to the opiates killing the pain. you probably have had some back pain for a while, but are only now feeling it during withdrawal because your natural pain blockers are still trying to adjust themselves back to normal. it should get better with time. congrats on getting off of the opiates :)
